Chyrsler 300 stern drive

I just put a new 360 chrysler engine in my boat, and when I took it out to the lake the input shaft broke in half. I am know searching for a new stern drive. Do I have to get the same make and model or can I use something different and modify it with some kind of conversion kit?
 
I am not sure about this but I believe some of the older Volvo Penta drives will interchange with a chrysler drive. If you haven't already I would post your question on the Volvo sterndrive forum. I bet someone there could answer you question.
