I screwed up my carb on 3.0 Cobra

Well, I have a problem. Tried to start the boat off muffs yesterday & it wouldn't start as it's been sitting for a while. Grabbed some gas to prime the carb & stuck a screwdriver down the carb to hold the choke plate open. Well, it started all right, but when I tried to remove the screwdriver it was jammed in the throttle plate. So now one of the throttle plates is bent. The boat starts on a dime but the engine races at about 1,000 rpm's. So now what the h*ll do I do? I haven't pulled the carb yet as I'm disgusted after doing something that stupid, but when I shined a light down the carb I can clearly see that the plate is bent with a gab of maybe 1/16". Am I going to have to replace the carb or is there a way to fix this? I still can't believe that I did someting that idiotic & I could kick myself. Thanx a lot.

certainly any fix requires carb removal, but you might be able to straighten it needle nose pliers with the carb upspide down on the bench
