Chrysler 45 nylon screw

Cant figure out what this screw does, or used to do, it broke in the middle. On my Chrysler 45 there is
a large nylon screw on the end of the shifting arm. It seems to be some kind of a stop as it prevents the tower from turning too far against the shift arm. It looks like an adjustment screw of some sort but
it broke in the middle and now it's not adjusting anything. But the engine is running fine so I don't know
how important it is. It's a 1979 model and I have the manual and though it shows the screw in some
pictures of the shifter section there is no mention of it anywhere. Hope somebody has a hint! mm
