I'm looking at a Mariner 40ML 6E9 L 312113 with a remote control system on it - console type throttle and gear shifter. A friend has this motor and a 8hp Mariner. He said I could take them, try and get them running and make him an offer. I currently have a 1993 Evinrude long shaft with Electric start and a 1996 johnson long shaft kicker and want to go to a 40hp tiller for my fishing boat. I would like to convert it to a tiller if it's economical. Does any one know what it would take and if the existing controls have any value? Perhaps someone wants to convert the other way and wants to make a trade? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
