Rough Idle and Poor Gas Mileage (mid 80's, 30hp, 2 stroke)

Hi,

My mid 80's, Tohatsu, 30hp, 2-stroke has been idling roughly lately and it sounds as though it may even be skipping a bit at lower rpms. At higher rpms it seems to be performing fine. Additionally, I've also noticed what seems to be a somewhat substantial drop in my overall fuel efficiency.

Any suggestions on what may be causing this? I changed the plugs recently, but I am concerned that the gaps may be off. I also had the carburetor cleaned and calibrated about a year ago.

Could be a lot of things. At what gap did you set the plugs? What was the condition of the old plugs? What is the fuel consumption? Is the timing set correctly?
