force 125 1988 starter problem

rebuilding and rewiring a bayliner trophy, the engine started but now the starter gear will not engage the flywheel any suggestions? there is power to the starter and it seems to spin but not engage
 
Spinning and not engaging.
The battery hooked right?
A bit(a very TINY bit) of grease under the bendix on the worm gear,maybe a spot of WD(very small amount).
Then try it a couple of times.
Too much grease or oil can ruin the bendix.It has rubber in it.J
Load test the battery.
Profile,Location?You might be close to someone who can help.
