"vro pump ouit working motor started knocking and shut down,so i put a quart of oil in my gas tank and restarted ths knocking went away run it gently for 6 miles to the boat dock could only here a small ticking,but other wise ran fine,what have i done!!"

but still that might not tell u what u did

how many hours on the motor and how big is ur pocket?

watch out some shops could say need a new powerhead"
 
i did it not good 160 on 4 cyl

i did it not good 160 on 4 cyl and 20 on the other 2 shop guy says 3000 to rebuild everything new bought the boat from a dealer they said did a complete rebulid my guy said it looks as if only 2 cyl was done just looking thure the plug holes guess i lose again
