78 65hp Chrysler prop size

I am a new owner of a 1977 AMF Crestliner 15' tri-hull with a 78 Chrysler 65 hp motor. This is the first boat i have ever owned. The boat wont get out of the hole at all with 2 or more people in it. Motor seems to run strong but really bogs down and wont plane. Someone told me to change prop pitch. All I can see on my prop now are the numbers 12 and 22 in that order. I assume 12in diameter with 22in pitch. I am trying to find a prop with a lot less pitch but not sure what style will fit? I want to at least pull a tube behind my boat. Trying to figure out if what will fit this motor. I did some research and think it has a 13 spline thru exhaust type prop but would like some advice before i buy

remove prop and count splines if center of prop has a huge hole its thru prop exhaust
1 pitch will change rpm about 200 rpm drop down to a 17" pitch should give u another 1000 rpm hard to determine what exact pitch should be without knowing what is max rpm u can get now expecially because u cannot get on plane
those doel fin planing things are awsome for getting on plane and staying on plane at lower rpms once u get the right prop

Those older Chryslers didn't have through hub exhaust,so the prop is not the right one.
To find the right prop you need a tach.
No tach, get a Tiny Tach,it will give the RPMs at wide open throttle.
Then make sur what prop you have.
You need to figure out if the motor is running right(compression test)?
Do these things and then move to the prop section. You'll get better responses from there.J

So what i really have after taking off the prop is a 12in pitch prop of the non-thru exhaust type. I want to find a different pitch prop but anywhere i look online nothing will match up. I also know I have a 13 spline shaft. No one has my engine in their prop selector menus. I did find some 13 spline props with the right diameter and pitch but they are thru exhaust types. Will this work? Or will I cause more problems put this type on? Its all I can seem to find.

Don't waste your time buying a new prop untill you figure out the RPMs at WOT.
You'll be spending $$$ and probably not getting the right prop.
Through hub exhaust props will work.
They need to fit right.
