I have a 1987 Indmar 351ci with a Holley 600 cfm vacuum secondary carb. Occasionally at idle the secondary jets are putting fuel in the bowl but the ports are not open. Does any one know what would cause this. Obviously the motor will not idle or run below about 2000 rpm when this happens. What kind of vacuum issue with the motore would create this problem. Any ideas appreciated.

"The carb is brand new, not reconditioned so I didn't expect to have to adjust floats or needle settings. I was wondering if an internal engine problem like a sticking valve or intake manifold leak would cause the carb to think it needed fuel when it shouldn't. Don't know how to look for evidence to support the theory."

"new floats can and do stick. give it a good rap and see if it frees up. I'm not talking hammer, screwdriver handle or such."
