lower unit compatibility

i'm replacing my lower unit on my 1982 johnson 150hp motor. i found a 1982 johnson 140 hp lower unit and am wandering how i can know if it is compatible with the 150hp? how do i find this out?
 
Look for outboard parts right here on this page and compare part numbers.-------------The V-6 has a heftier portion on the lower part of the driveshaft, and bigger gears as well.
