I havea 2004 searay 3.0 mercruiser I/O. When looking at the engine from the top there is a handle with two hoses on the right side. Says drian. What is it for and what do I need to do to keep it operating with no problems. Should the hoses be flushed? Should the hoses be connected? I am totally ignorant and all help will be appreciated/ tHANK YOU
 
You should get a manual and familiarize yourself with your engine and how it works. That way when you have problems and come here for advice, you'll know what we are talking about. Good luck to you. By the way, I hope you never have problems, but that's not usually the case.
