1998 4.3 starts but dies instantly

Have 1998 4.3 in a V I P. Have no power at coil unless cranking. Will start but as soon as let off key it dies. Have checked connections, any suggestions?
 
some have fuse on run side of switch if not blown may have bad switch or fuse link at starter prety mutch like a regular chevy hope this helps rob
 
Your key switch is the most likely problem if no blown fuse is found.

on the back of the key switch there should be, red (power to switch), yellow with red stripe (crank power) and purple (igniton on)

put the key in the on position and see if you have power to the purple wire. A test light is best so you can see the intensity of the light. if power is present then further in the wire harness may be the issue. also with key on check for power at the choke. this also has power with the key on.
