need info on 8hp

I just bought a fishing boat with a 1989 8hp oil injected model dt8sck, is the oil injection reliable? and I heard that suzuki motors out perform most other brands for the same hp. rating, is this true or is it just BS. always had merc"s or evinrude before.
 
In many areas of the land Suzuki motors are not in the top 10 on the hit parade.----------Nice when they run , but service and parts can be a problem.
