1980 40hp mercury (mercury switch location, which cylinder is 1 and which is 2 and what goes here

i have the mercury stop swith just dangling i cant see where it goes and i'm putting the spark plugs back on the engine i need to know which cylinder is 1 and which is 2 because i need to put the green and white wire on the correct one SAM_0637.jpg
in the image in the centr is a bolt hole which look like their should be something but what is supposed to be their? i just dont want to miss anything whilst i'm putting it all back together.
 
ok so as i typed that last message i stupidly realised that the stop switch went exactly where i was asking what went on the image i posted so thats sorted but i still need to know which chamber is which
