I have a Chris craft cabin cruiser with a single 283 that is locked up tight one piston is cracked and crank will need a little work because it was starting to spin the front bearing. after weighing out the options it will be a lot cheaper to put in a automotive 350 that I have. I have a couple compatibility questions:
- the 283 has a odd firing order of 15634278 not the GM 18436572 does that mean its reverse rotation? Someone told me that if it has a timing chain that its standard rotation witch mine does have a timing chain
- the 283 doesn’t have a harmonic balancer on the front of the crank which is where the trans is hooked on is my 350 going to run right with out a balancer on it?
