20hp Chrysler Sea King- Opinions / Price??

I have a 14' Sea King V hull with a 9.5 Johnson that won't get it on plane. I found a 20 hp Chrysler Sea King motor on craigslist yesterday for $495. The owner states he's an outboard mechanic and that it runs great. Any ideas on what this engine is really worth?? How hard is it to get parts for this engine?? Others have told me just to wait for an Evinrude or Johnson. Thoughts??
 
What year? Model,Serial#.Compression?
Depending on the year,anywhere from 300$ to 500$
The older the motor the more gas it uses.
The older Johnson and Evinrude and Mercs aren't that easy on fuel either.

You Johnson.Running right ?Maybe a new prop would make it perform.
Get something to measure the RPM's Should operate somewhere between 5500/6500
Too low,a smaller pitch. J
