OMC 90 Turbojet exhaust temp

Can anyone tell me how hot the flexiable exhaust tube and the large exhaust container (I dont know what it is called) is supposed to get on a 94 OMC 90hp turbojet? I can touch the cyl heads while running and it is not too hot, but the exhaust hose is scortching hot and any water that gets splashed on the large exhaust container looking thing immediately sizzles and boils away. Is this normal? If not, any ideas as to where to start?

How are you running this thing ??------------In the lake , at what idle speed ? -With the special adapter on a hose ??-------------You can not turn on the hose till after the motor starts.
 
I am running this on a lake. At idle, the cyl heads do get hot to the touch, but when I open it up to about 3-3.5k rmp the cyl temps go down and the muffler temp goes way up.
 
This machine should idle at about 1200 RPM for proper cooling.---------There must be a blockage in water supply to the muffler if it gets / stays hot at full throttle.
