I have a PCM 5.7 inboard and i have a problem that the engine only starts after cranking for almost a minute before it will start when hot.

I have checked the fuel pressure and replaced the pumps.
Replaced the coil, ignition module and plug wires.
No dtc's are present
Compression is good.
Replaced the coolant temp sensor.

The engine starts instantly when cold.

The engine must cool down for about 3 hours befor it will start again.

Has anyone ever heard of such a problem.

I had a similar problem with my 97 GT 40 EFI. My problem was cold starts and keeping it running, however the Idle Air Controller was the issue. Hope you fix the problem.

Called "hot soaked"...the engine compartment is getting tooo hot when the engine is shutdown...you can try running the engine in neutral, at fast idle, for a few minutes before shutdown. Turning on the blower may help too...depends upon its capacity. It may be a pain, but just opening the engine box/cover is one way. The more elegant approach is to add forced ventilation to the compartment.
