Honda 2hp centrifugal clutch repair

I have a 2003 Honda BF2D 2 horsepower with a centrifugal clutch. It is (was?) in great condition, well maintained, low hours. Last summer it went for a swim. I did everything called for in the manual, took it to a shop where they also did whatever they do to remove moisture form the important parts. It started and idled well, but when I took it out it was clear that the power wasn't there when the clutch engaged. The shop said that it would likely be at least 4 hours to repair, and I had already invested $200 to that point, so I bought a Seloc repair manual. The section of the manual that deals with the lower unit seems to only deal with forward only models, not the ones with centrifugal clutch. Any ideas where I can get more information to take a stab at it myself, or should I just bite the bullet and take it in. I'm no mechanic, but am willing to try once. I just need an information source other than the manual.

It will show you how to remove the clutch and associated bearing, all of which are probably rusted from being submerged. Not a terribly hard job, but you just have to follow the directions on taking it apart.

Here's another parts page to look at. You will probably need to clean or replace both pivots (item 4) and just buy a new hub bearing (item 10). Take hondadude's advice and buy the Helm Inc. manual if you decide to do your own wrenching. It is the only info source out there that is worth a ish. Good luck.
