What's this extra coil part do?

Bought this "Sierra coil 18-5186" and in the bag was a approx. 1/2" dia x 3/4" long w/ 3/16" hole thru center ceramic tube. Dark gray in color. What's it do and where does it go? Hate to put it back together and leave something out. Thanks. MJ
 
That piece is probably for a different motor.
The coil is used in probably 100 different motors.It's easier to sell 1 part number.
So they include everything just in case.
