info to replace starter on 5.7 volvo 26ft chris craft

Go to this site and find your engine model.
That will at least give you an OEM p/n.

I'm not sure which tooth count flywheel Volvo Penta used in 2000, but the starter motor mounting bolt pattern will tell you which motor you need.
Large 168 tooth flywheel starter motor will use the staggerd bolt pattern.
Small 153 tooth flywheel starter motor will use the straight across bolt pattern.

By year 2000 these were HTGR/PMGR motors, so I not want to go backwards by purchasing a non-gear reduction motor.

Be sure to double check the length of the mounting bolts against the new starter motor front nose housing.
Not all housings are the same dimensionally....., and an incorrect bolt length can get you in trouble.

Starter motor for the 153 tooth f/w looks like this one.

Ayuh,.... Just What, exactly are ya wantin' to know....

the process goes sorta like,....
Remove as much boat as necessary to reach the starter,...
Crawl in, 'n remove the starter, then install a new 1...
After which, reassemble the boat...

If ya can't remove enough boat to reach the starter,...
Pull the motor, Then change the starter...
