I just bought a 1979 chrysler 4hp 42H9F. Ant one know what the prob;om can be. It starts up just fine. I can run for like 30mins. at half throtle but it runs for like 10-30 seconeds at full throtle then dies. Then after awhile I can run for like 1-5 mins and it dies. It will fire right back up. But sometimes I see the fuel swich turns it self to the off position at least 2 times I seen it do this.

Thanks
Cary

Thank you jerry for the info. I sure will repost if I figure it out but all signs point to the carb. Now to figure out how to fix it with out taking it to a shop. Time to do some more searching. LOL

These carbs are easy to clean.DON"T use any kind of overnight soak.
A spray cleaner will do the job.
Also a welders tip/orrifice cleaner to clean the small holes.
Most time you won't need to buy new needle/seat unless the tip is corroded.J

I am just afraid of taking the motor apart thats all. But I might take a look at it later today. I also felt the hoses and they are soft. Do you think if I replaced them with a clear plastic hose it would be ok? Or does it have to be that black hose?
