Note the monster intake valve (2.02). These were larger than the intake valves on the 360 heads....which are what came on marine 340's. The chamber itself is also smaller than the 360 heads.....meaning higher compression. As 300hb said....they were built to rev.

So the 'J' heads on the '72 on up motor were 360 heads...? Mine do have the 1.88 intake valves and it's an early '72 with the steel crank........and factory chrome valve covers! As a side note the 340's were rated at 250 hp but the 360's were 265 hp in marine form. I wish the factory cam specs were available. Sealed Power has a couple standard rotation listed so I suppose you can look them up. VooDoo made one too that was a RV/Marine grind.
