Mariner 2Hp Prop not spinning

Hi,
I have a Mariner 2hp and the prop is not spinning,
The engine runs first time but the prop is just not turning.
I was going along and then I heard a clunky sound and soon after the engine RPM's went high and the boat wasnt moving.
What do you think the problem is and will I need to spend alot of money having it repaired?

First thing is to check for a shear pin ----------------Then check lower unit oil ----------------------Then depending on what you find is to inspect gears / driveshaft.
 
Well there was no mention of ----------" work already done "---------in the first post.-------------------The shop will help you out I am sure.
