vintage motor or not?

I am building a 16, zimmer/hacker racing runabout and looking for a engine or recommendatin. Ford Flat head V8-60 marine engine or parts or possibly a newer motor such as a 4.3 mercruiser, need tranny also . Thanks Mike 608-516-7778
 
Wow, this is tough to give a suggestion without knowing if the boat will be shown and needs to remain OEM correct.
If restoring to be OEM correct, then there's your answer.

If not, and if you plan to use it routinely, I'd opt for a more modern engine/drive system.

OEM? It is a new home build.
