Hey all, Have a question about carb kit i just bought. The old needle valves have the rubber tips to seat it . The new kits come with stainless steel ones , no rubber tips. Is this acceptable as replacments? Seems years ago you had brass seats and ss needle, but the seats were replaceable too. These seats are not. 2000 90hp merc. 2-stroke 3-cyl. Carb kit Sierra# 18-7750. Thanks for any input

If the seats are clean, the size of the valve tips are correct, you will have no problem with either rubber tips or stainless tips or?
Good luck.

Mer did it both ways, with the rubber tipped needle design the later method (which would suggest it's superior). Just don't mix them up and all will be well!

PS: I "vise test" carbs that I rebuild before bolting them on the motor--much easier to fix 'em that way! Hook a fuel line to the carb and pump her up good. If she leaks a tiny bit (or not) that's okay, but if you have a gusher lower the float level a 1/16 of an inch and try again.
