(first post) chrysler 757ha questions

Hey guys, and gals. My first day posting on the site. I have been reading and using the info to get my 75hp started and running.

I bought my 75hp for $250 canadian (im in vancouver b.c.) and it came with a parts 70hp motor as well. (bonus)

when i fixed the electrical problem and got the motor running, there was no water coming out the exhaust ports, or the pee hole that i installed. Today i replaced the impeller and tried again. Now i have water spitting out of the two exhaust ports on the back of mid leg, and at first some spitting coming from the pee hole.

I have the motor in a large tank with the water level 2 inches above the water inlets. Is this normal or should i have a steady stream from the pee hole. I have watched videos of other chrysler engines and they seem to pee a steady stream. So if my spitting engine is not getting enough water at the top end what could be causing this?

How do i test the thermastat.

I am a automotive mechanic, but this is a new ball game. Lol.

If you could help it would be most appreciated.

Thanks

The water needs to be above the cavitation plate.3-4 inches will be best.
2-3 inches above the inlet isin't deep enough.
The impeller will not draw water up that far setting.
Testing the thermostat:boil some water and drop it in.It should open past 160 deg.
Then throw it in cold water and it should close.
