Hey guys...I just found something a little weird, I pulled the port carb (q-jet) and expected to see a square bore manifold under it,instead I found a sreadbore manifold and the wedge spacer. I thought this was a little unusual as on all the Q-jets I've pulled I've always found the square bore. I checked to make sure it wasn't an adapter and it is the manifold. I don't know if this would make any difference but thought I'd mention it.....Lee
Hi Paul...yes it does have trim tabs, but I think they need a little work and she moving at just 14 knots at 2900. I'm hoping that Jeff will come back on and give me some help with the prop sizing so I can start hunting for them. I just missed a set on ebay last week , they were 18x23's and they went for $425 . So now I'm looking again, but I don't have any idea of what size to go for.
Dave, I could not agree more with you.you are at 20" P and thinking of 23" P, currently having trouble reaching even 4k rpm at WOT. I think that would be trouble in your situation.
The engines are struggling now to reach rpm, today's cruise rpm gives you slow speed numbers, likely due to higher than design loads on them.
I know you are pursuing getting the rig weighed, I think that is still the best plan right now. Also, contact others with your same engine/hull combo. Get some advice from other owners. If they get the 20" props to work, you will also. Right now, it seems your boat is towing an anchor when underway. Trim tabs, Get them extended down!
