    Default Paragon "P" series questions

I have a pair of 1968 327F engines in my CC Cavalier. They have "P" series Paragon transmissions and they both seem to drag a little, especially in reverse. First question: Should the shafts turn freely with the engine off and the transmission in neutral? Mine do not. Second question: Other than changing the fluid, are there any other checks I should make (relief valve, etc) and if so, what are they (I know, that's question #'s 3 & 4).

Thanks for any input you guys can provide.

    Dave
