Have spares, how to find year/model engines they belong to ? Mariner 40 ML i suspect!!HELP PLEASE

Hi,

I have a load of spares for a mariner 40Hp engine i believe, and would like to find out which year and model engines these would suite. My reasoning is that i can then use the spares to service/maintain the particular model or year for which they belong to.(once i purchase that model)

My issue is i am battling to find a way of searching and finding the relevant engine to which these spares belong.*I believe this is working against normal convention, but there must be someone out there who can help.


What i do know is that the engine is a Mariner 40 ML,Pre 1995.Could you please give some insight into which motors, these spares would suite:

I acquired these spares in the United kingdom, and am now in New Zealand(are the serial numbers ranges relevant*world wide or by country?)

Any help would be much appreciated.I have many more spares, mainly for:

1. transom mounting bracket bushes/pins/rubbers etc.
2. throttle linkages
3. ignition timing linkages
4. seals
5. electrical bits and pieces

I do not have any covers or carbs or housings.I do know that they were for 40hp, i just need to know fropm what years so i can make a decision on engine to purchase
