Mercury t&t identification by serial number

I picked up a working t&t unit from a salvage yard and am trying to identify it. the serial # is 5285442 I need to know what it is from and what it will work on. If you could help me figure it out I would be most pleased. I have googled it and some of the crap out there shouldn't even be on the web. Oh yes and Mercury is no help atr all. Thanks Bob
 
Hi Bob, The number is from 1979.From that I'm guessing you got the swivel bracket and all.
What it is from? Could be anything from 70HP up. Are there any numbers on the pump/tilt ram or unit body? Post a pic and there's a good chance someone will be able to tell you.
 
Sorry it took so long to get back with more info, but here we go.
Each side of the boat mount has a different number. One has 3400-8715, the other has 3044-8717.
The center section has 3 3 M above then 14 4.
The motor mount has 1499-8709 on it.
The pump has 6E15
I dont know where I got the above number from but the serial number is 08118511
I added pix but hav not done it here before

if you chance the 8 for a B then it can be a trim unit for the Mercury 70/75/80/90 HP from 1987 according to the official EPC .
the serial as you describe it is no known number
