4.3GL oil

I just bought a boat with a Volvo Penta 4.3GL-A engine. I have been told I have to use a synthetic oil with a viscosity of either 30W or 25W40. Can I use 15W40 instead and does it have to be synthetic oil?

I can not find either the 30W or the 25W40 oils.
 
I but in my V/P 4.3gl 20/50 of a G/M based oil, has worked good all year for me, winterizing my boat now, checked the oil last night and its still perfectly cleared like new oil, just choose the oil with the highest spec code on the back of the container, its a 2 digit number like SB, the code will donate the quality of the oil, the higher the last letter the higher and better quality of the oil, shell oils i have found normally have the best quality

Manual says 15/50 or 20/50 with a spec of SG
