I was told this is a Chrysler unit adapted to a Bearcat 55 engine. Can anyone tell from the picture which model/year this may have come from? Thanks!!

Prestolite manufactured a line of 12V reversible hydraulic pumps for use in marine applications. Some were built for exposed wet locations (outboard) and some for damp locations (inboard). The major difference between wet and damp was a cast aluminum brush cover versus a stamped steel. The pump was in production from 1972 through 1987. It was used on Chrysler, Force, Evinrude, and Johnson outboards as well as some mercury inboards. The one in picture is wet loaction model painted white so it is from an Chrysler or Force made before 1986. The transom clamp in picture does not have a steering tube so it is probably a Chrysler from very early 80's. Just pick any chrysler force before 1987 and it will use that pump with either white or blue paint.
