Can some one tell me what year my outboard is?

I have a 40hp mariner outboard serial is 40E 676BL 411226, I need the year to try find a service manual for it. The motor has great compression and starts at the flick of the key, gets my 12 foot pride playmate up to 25 knots with ease and runs smooth, it just has no low down grunt, if you go flat stick off the mark it just labors and misses but if you take off gradually and steady it has no trouble at all. So i need a manual to find and fix the prob thanx if u can help.
 
look at marine engine .com websit its got that info on there pages 40e 40hp electric start.676bL. it might be A 76 l means long. is it this old

It's probably going to be too late now, But just in case it not, You're engine serial number 00411226 is actually an 1982 Model number 7040522 MARINER 40 EL engine.
