Engine Shutdown

I own a 2004 Yamaha 75 HP 4-Stroke engine on my 22 ft. Lowe pontoon boat. This morning, while idling around a lake, the engine jujst quietly shut down. I have looked at the owners manual and could not find any reason. The engine would not crank at all and I had to be towed to shore. Has anyone else had similiar problems and any suggestions what might be the trouble.

Check for loose battery cables at both battery and motor end. Check the main fuse at the panel under the cowl. Check the wire connection at your regulator rectifier. Those have been known to get hot and even catch fire.
