velvet drive rebuild tips

I am in the process of rebuilding a Velvet Drive model AS1-71C, S/N 36917 reverse gear for my Century. I've been searching and reading all the posts I can on them, I also have the rebuild and installation manuals. I'm looking for any hints or tips from someone who has first hand knowledge in working with them. It appears that for the most part they are simple to rebuild but I have read about setting some clearances for reverse, nobody seems to fully explain that and it isn't in my manuals. I've rebuild engines in the past and am a mechanical engineer so the more technical the better!

If you have not redone the transmission yet, I have an excellent 71C listed in the classified section, like new, 2 hours fresh water running time. I have been keeping it for a future project which never came along. 650.00 plus shipping, or you can pick it up and see it in person.
