Bleeding the fuel lines after a VST filter change

What's the correct way to get all of the air out of the fuel system after changing all of your fuel filters on a '05 Yamaha F150? Will this affect high end performance if not done correctly?

There is a little rubber plug that covers a schrader valve that vents the top of the VST bowl. On the f150 it is visible through the intake manifold. But when I changed the VST on my f150, I didn't vent mine and it runs fine. I believe there are vacuum lines connected to the VST that would also remove excess air and fumes in the VST.
