1986 Johnson 50 HP VRO

I am looking to be able to troll with my 50 without having to put on a trolling plate or use something else to slow me down such as a sock or bucket. Currently the slowest speed I can get is 2.5 mph and I am looking to be able to get down to 1 mph and maybe even a little lower can this be done by changing my prop to something with a different pitch? If so what would be recomended for a pitch size to get down to those speeds

A smaller ( less pitch ) prop would help-------------BUT-------------------You risk over speed of the motor at full throttle , with the result being damage to the motor.
 
Below 1 mph - are you trolling crabs?
You may probably be able to buy a small kicker cheaper than a new prop and at the same time eliminate the problem indicated by racerone above.
