I have a Honda BF130. When I shift into reverse ,it will go in fine, but when I try to shift back to neutral it is very stiff and snaps over to foward.I installed new cables (Teleflex Xtreme) but no inprovement

Is this a problem that has happened all of a sudden or little be little over time?

How does it shift when you remove the throttle and shift cables from the engine and shift the engine by hand at the shift lever on the motor? Does it still have the same difference between forward and reverse?

You can do this out of the water if you have someone moving the prop as you try it.

If all that tests ok. How does it feel at the shifter still with both cables disconnected at the engine? Is it smooth from reverse and forward?

If so...how fast is your idle? In neutral, it should be around 750 rpm. If it is a lot faster, that could be the problem.

If all the above checks out, then you should have a dealer check it out. It could be something in your lower unit.
