Can you get a "generic" water temp sending unit for AQ 260A?

I would imagine you could use a generic if it's resistance range matches Volvo's. It has to be the same to work properly with the gauge.
 
The AQ 260 temp sender is not necessarily a Volvo Penta item! It will have more to do with the brand and impedance of the instrument.
Also, the sender will be proprietary to single station -vs- dual stations.

Remove the old, wire brush it, see if you can expose a p/n.
