" Pulled head to replace blown head gasket on my '84 OMC Sea Drive (4V Cros Flow).

Found rust on cylinder walls but no scoring or gouges.

Should I clean cylinder wall, add oil to cylinder, or ????????? "

"R,Wood.... If the rust is simply surface rust and does not interfere with the rotation of the engine, I'd suggest you let the piston rings clean it up. However, if the rust is causing a restriction, you have no choice but to clean it up manually. Just be sure to clean out the grit when you're done.
