Correct way to store a nissan 2 stroke motor

What is the CORRECT way to store a 2 stroke motor, some say, run them out of fuel, some say leave fuel in them. If you run them out of fuel, this could dry up the carb gaskets, correct? If you leave the fuel in them, it could varnish the inside of the carb, correct? Or, if possible, just start them up every now and then, in water, allow it to reach operating temp, then shut it off. Plus make sure shouldn't you put a marine fuel stabilizer in the fuel if stored for long periods of time? Inquiring minds want to know:):) thanks

Run the fuel out or drain the fuel system manually. The gaskets and seals are not affected. Fuel stabilizer keeps the gas from rotting, so, if you have to store the fuel for over 30 days, use stabilizer. However, you would be much better off to dump the fuel and start fresh.

I would add that one should always run the carb(s) out at the end of every day. Religiously. We also recommend real stabilizer (such as K100 -- nothing with any added alcohol) in the small motors, because the fuel often sits for more than 30 days.
