New to Forum, please help.
I am completing a renovation on a 1973 Boston Whaler Montauk 17', with a 1988 88hp spl Johnson. I ran the boat a few times, then stripped everything (but the motor, transon strong) off to begin the project. I did unhook the fuel line, & placed some Sea-Foam in the fuel when I ran it last, just had the carb. rebuilt. I am now ready to start it up, just wanted some advice on the proper steps & precautions to take in bringing the motor back to life. I've heard the horror stories about the "grime, gummy buildup" from the remaining fuel in an outboard. I plan on cleaning the carb., & replacing the fuel filter & fuel lines first.
Thanks, I appreciate any feedback, guidance & procedure tips.
