1960's OMC strendrive, i can't find where the impeller is. ??

I have changed impellers on outboard engines, but never an inboard! the impeller is not in the lower end from what i could see, anyinfo or help would be great

it is in the upper gearcase, on the lower side. You remove the outdrive, then lift the upper out of the lower. Flip it upside down and 4 bolts will be staring at you - that's the w/p. I recommend a manual.
You can work on it upside down on the boat, but on an electric shift, it's no big job to disconnect shift wires and remove the drive.
