1964 Johnson Evinrude Prop slipping

I have a 1964 28 horse Johnson Evenrude, I had it out yesterday and hit a couple objects in the water and now my prop slips. Before I took it apart I noticed I could spin the prop while it was in gear. I did some looking at the online manual (which is not real detailed in some things). I took the prop off and now I do not know if I need to replace the prop or what I need to do. From what I read it has some sort of rubber in it or something. What do I need to do to get it working again? Please help thanks.

There is a rubber cushion between the hub and prop. Be glad it is there or you would likely be looking at major repairs. Not sure what the cost would be but you might try this place: http://www.discountprops.com/PropRepair.htm. or http://www.midwestpropeller.com/index You could also see if there are any marinas in your area that might do it.
