Just bought my first stick steering boat, but it is very stiff when moving foward and back. Where the cable attaches at the front of the motor there are two small tapped holes, one on each side. Could there be a bracker missing that would allow the cable to attach further in front of the motor thus increasing leaverage. Cable seems to be in good shape otherwise. Thanks for any help. Motor is a 1977 seahorse johnson 35 hp.
