X-2 SS Check Engine Light

I'm getting a check engine light with a fault code of 81 on my 2006 5.7L Crusader engine on my 2006 Mastercraft X-2 SS

Oil Pressure and Engine Temp are normal. Engine runs fine. Raw water pump is working well and flowing out the exhaust well.

Starts quickly, runs well then when returned to neutral the check engine light comes on and it goes into power reduction mode and will only idle.

Parts listing shows you have a MEFI-4 controller....My Delphi manual (generic ECU OEM) shows a DTC of 81 has MULTIPLE (>10) meanings depending upon the configuration.....this is another instance where having the factory service data would be very useful. Most scan tools can 'figure out the configuration' based on the sensors available and the flash contents. Maybe best to get the scan tool hooked up and assess the situation again.

Assuming your observations are accurate, I'd venture a few guesses (from the Delphi list) as Cam position sensor (fault) or DEPS power circuit (out of range).
