:confused:I have cleaned all the carbs and tried to start the motor after it has sat for 3 years. I changed the gas and it idles when the choke is closed. It will die as soon as I open the choke. I checked all the lines from the gas tank and they look good. The pump is hard but seems to lose it's hardness while it sits is this normal? What am I missing Please help.

The fuel pump could need a diaphram/rebuild.Carbs need cleaning.Don't do any adjusting to the floats.
The air screws need to be reset after cleaning.
IMPORTANT.Turn air screw(front/top of carb)till it just bottoms(gently)then out 1 and 1/16th turn out.
Idle should be about 750rpm in gear and motor warm.
After it's ran you need a final adjustment.Bottom out screw again(gently)then out to 1 turn. Then in untill the motor bucks/kicks.coughs.Then back out 1/2 turn.JJ
