- I'm still learning as I go here so any help would be appreciated. I've just bought a 318 to replace the motor in my boat. The motor I had in my boat was never ran due to the fact it was a failed attempt to turn an automotive engine into a marine engine. This is a raw water system. The engine I bought is raw water, has manifolds but no risers. I have 6in osco risers that came in my boat.The gaskets are still on the engine that has no risers. Those have the hole to pass water from the copper tube in the manifold to the risers. The old engine in the boat that was never run has the gaskets without the holes. Which ones should I use. I'm thinking the ones with the holes but I'm still not sure. This is the last step on the engine side before I drop it in the boat.
