charging system

I just changed the rectifier/regulator in a 1988 175 hp evinrude because the old one was burned out, still no charging of the battery, any suggestions? thanks.
 
Stator may be bad.--------It is the only other thing on the electrical side.----------------Was the stator not tested , as part of the " no charging " trouble shooting ?????
 
Assuming the regulator/rectifier is wired correctly and 12v is being applied to it........

The actual ohm reading of the stator charging coils escapes me at the moment (racerone may have it), however there should be continuity between the two yellow leads BUT NO continuity between either of those yellow wires and anything else including to ground.
